When we think about people who have achieved greatness, we tend to think of people who have accomplished incredible feats or reached the pinnacle of their craft, whether it’s noted philosophers, star athletes, award-winning musicians, or revered actors. However, true greatness is not about accomplishments or recognition. Greatness means revealing the most profound part of yourself that is rooted in the soul. It is something that we are all able to achieve.
Here are 4 tips to start realizing your potential:
1. Focus on your internal motivation, not how you are perceived.
Greatness means expressing yourself fully all the time. It’s not about striving for recognition, acceptance, praise, or even success. Not everyone is meant to be a best-selling author, but we all have a spiritual purpose in this world. If your soul is saying you need to do this, then you need to do it.
In order to manifest your greatness, you must be driven by an internal desire to express your soul. Ask yourself, “Am I doing what my soul came into this world to do? Why am I doing it? Am I doing it well enough, or can I do more?”
2. Don’t let rejection stop you.
The ego can hold us back in fear of rejection, worrying about what others will think or say of our work. It can also make us quit when we receive criticism. When you know with complete certainty that you are doing what your soul is meant to do, your motivation comes from inside, and it becomes infinitely easier to accept rejection.
Being great does not equate to fame, popularity, or even praise. Focus on the expression of your soul, and don’t let rejection sidetrack or bring you down.
3. Be mindful of where you spend your energy.
We tend to talk big about the things we want to accomplish in life, but how much time do we actually spend pursuing them versus talking about them? A person might know how their soul needs to express itself but doesn’t put in the effort it takes to do so and therefore never reaches their potential.
We have a finite amount of energy in a given day. If we allow that energy to leak into ill will, hostility, anger, or resentment, then we limit our ability to be great today. Ask yourself, “Where am I spending my energy today? How am I depleting my energy in a way that will prevent me from being my best self?”
4. Trust that the universe has your back.
We all go through times of fear, doubt, and anxiety, but there are times when we allow ourselves to remain in those states for too long. It drains our energy and limits us from revealing our greatness. Strong certainty in the Creator helps remove the anxiety and doubt that hold us back.
Instead of thinking about achieving a desired outcome with your work, just create. You can have a goal, but put the energy out there and stop thinking about the result. Have certainty that everything that happens is for your greatest good and that the process is the purpose. Trust the Creator that things will work out the way they should, even if that ends up looking different than you envisioned.
Greatness is not how we are perceived or recognized. It is living in a state where we push ourselves to express our Light, our soul, and our purpose. Instead of worrying about an outcome or how others will view you, get in touch with your soul’s purpose and throw yourself full force in that direction, knowing that you are in partnership with a powerful spiritual force that wants what is best for you.
