June of 2021 comes to clean up whatever mess we may have after a turbulent May. This week’s energy invites us to open our eyes up wide to a world of opportunities.
Chukat is the story of the negativity created by the Golden Calf. Creating the Golden Calf was a choice the Israelites made to derive energy from a place of selfishness rather than from the Light. As a result, the Israelites connected to the energy of chaos. In this week’s portion, we receive the antidote and correction to this chaos.
This month, the astrological events to take note of are the presence of Pluto, Saturn, and Mercury in retrograde, as well as the nodes. We are at a turning point and are given the option to change the course of things. What we do now will impact the course of events culminating in the last part of the year.
There is a great gift to us all in connecting to this renewing energy of continuity. We may find that we are not only ready for renewal and a fresh start but can also have fresh ideas on how to put our intentions into action—so much so that we may find it difficult to quiet the mind because things we haven’t noticed before start catching our eye.
Later, we read that the Israelites wished to pass through the land of Edom but were denied access by its leaders. When we are denied access to something, our first reaction is often to feel angry and reactive. This teaches us to get outside our comfort zones, get out of our bubbles, and experience a new way of thinking. Mercury retrograde in Gemini is our opportunity to open our minds with the courage to think differently.
