In this week's portion, we read about the destruction caused by the golden calf transgression. The Talmud tells us that while Moses was with the Creator on Mount Sinai preparing to bring down the first set of the tablets, the Israelites fell spiritually by creating the golden calf in his absence. This portion gives us an energy of hope. As Michael Berg says, “If we knowwe have fallen, there is hope. If you have doubt or low self-esteem and don’t believe in what you are doing, this is the time to transform that.”
The more we realize that we don’t always see the whole picture, the more we can connect to the Light of the Creator so that we can see. In this week’s portion, the golden calf precisely represents the energy of this week’s Full Moon in Virgo. Virgos have pride, and they often know better on an intellectual level, though emotionally, they have a lot of doubt. Similarly, the Israelites knew better than to create the golden calf, which caused their fall.
In kabbalistic astrology, we look to the opposite sign, which in this case is Pisces. Virgo and Pisces create one of the two mutable axes (the other is Gemini and Sagittarius). Mutable signs are the most flexible and perceptive signs of the zodiac. No other sign can adjust to new circumstances better than mutable signs do!
So this week, we have the opportunity to not only get out of a “stuck” situation but also to connect to the positive side of it. When we think, “Oh! I can’t believe I did this…” or “Look where I am now…” we are given the opportunity to turn things around. Without this fall or that negative thought, you wouldn’t be where you are now or have achieved what you have.
Wisdom doesn’t depend on how much we know and how old we are. Wisdom comes from our connection to the Light of the Creator and from the nature of our desire. And this week, the Full Moon helps us plant the seed for new thoughts and new behavior. This is also one of the most positive full moons of the year, it is trine Uranus opposite Venus. This Full Moon in Virgo will act like a bridge, bringing together the higher consciousness (Pisces) with the Virgo energy to take action that is aligned with your heart’s desires.
And just like the Virgo full moon makes the impossible possible and turns negative situations into opportunities, you can materialize concrete results and recognize that a little bit of Heaven, the Light of the Creator, is already within everyone and everything around you.
