Lesson Highlights

Today, we’re going to talk about abundance. When we think about abundance we tend to think about money. But what is money, really?

Money is so much more than a piece of paper. It is a social construct. Money can improve lives; money can damage lives.

When it comes to how you think about money, defining what it means to you makes all the difference. And what it means to you is dependent on how you were raised. What did it mean to your parents? What was the energy in the home around money? My experience made me think about money in different ways.

You cannot make your whole life about money or having it because if that’s what you’re banking on, the quality of your life on you’re never going to be happy.

Today I want you to think about what your thoughts surrounding abundance are. What your thoughts around money are. What it means to you and how invested you are in making it. If you aren’t where you want to be how does it affect your self-esteem and your sense of purpose? Start here and we will pick it up tomorrow.

Lesson Description

When we think of “abundance” or “wealth,” we tend to think of money. But what is money, really?

Money is not just a piece of paper that the banks decide has a certain value. Before paper currency, people traded coins made of gold and silver—metals we think of as having inherent value. Then again, who decides what the value of silver or gold is? And who decided how much silver would be equal to 2 cows or 4 chickens? And before coins, people traded goods directly or paid with livestock.

The truth is, whether bartering or buying, the value of goods and money itself is determined by us. In fact, money is little more than a social construct. We have all come to the agreement that these papers and coins have certain values, and that implied agreement makes it true.

If you think about it, the essence of money isn’t really about the paper, nor is it about cows, chickens, or silver. Money is energy. It is the physical manifestation of energy and potential. Therefore, the more money we acquire, the more energy we have to translate into other manifestations. Money can be used to better the world, or it can be used for destructive or purely selfish purposes.

Money takes on a different quality in each of our thoughts. It may represent power or powerlessness, success or failure, security or insecurity, or almost any other emotion depending on our relationship with it. We spend endless hours thinking about or managing our money, but how often do we think about our relationship with money? And how do we create a healthy relationship with it?

First, we dispel the false notion that money and spirituality are separate or conflicting entities. There is a great misconception around this topic that goes something like this: If I am going to be spiritual, then I should not think about money, nor should I care about it or (heaven forbid!) have lots of it.

False, false, and false!

There is nothing kabbalistic about these misconceptions. In fact, the very meaning of the word Kabbalah is “to receive.”At its core, this spiritual practice is all about how we receive things in life and for what purpose. We are meant to have more of everything. The Creator wants us to have total fulfillment, physically and spiritually. Poverty is not a prerequisite to spiritual growth.

Of course, wanting more and believing that we can have more are two different things. We will always be limited by what we think is possible. So, if you believe yourself to be limited in the amount of money you can generate, that will be true. We have to rethink money in order to stop underestimating what we think we can have.

Today, think about your relationship with money. Does it cause you anxiety or worry? Does it bring you joy and contentment? Do you feel deserving of it? Or shame around having/not having money? Pay attention to your thoughts around spending, and consider where your thoughts may be limiting your wealth.

Tomorrow, we’ll dig deeper to discover where these limiting beliefs are holding us back. And from there, we’ll make a plan to invite more abundance and energy into our lives!

About This Course

One of the great gifts in studying Kabbalah is that we become more aware of the energies around us. Each day, week, and month has its own unique energy with differing powers that inform us. This month of Virgo is one of the most consequential months of the year, full of the energy of deep transformation. Over the next 30 days, we will assess, evaluate, and rethink 10 of the most important areas of your life. First, we will look at what is working and what isn’t working. I will help you identify your desire – the thing that you really want for that area of your life–not the thing you only think you want, or think you should want, or what others think you should want. From there, you will make your plan. You’ll make it actionable, doable, and motivating. I’m so excited and grateful that you are all joining me on this journey to rethink, reframe, recalibrate, and re-energize your life.
