This week's portion contains 112 verses. Rav Berg taught that the numerical value of 112 combines two nearly opposing realms into one: the flawless universe and the chaotic universe. That’s the secret of Matot.

Matot speaks about vows. Let’s think about what a vow really means. When one makes a vow, they are meant to fulfill it. Not doing so degrades their words. There is power in our words. That is why the moment we promise something, no matter what that promise is, 99 percent of it has already taken place. It already happened in the spiritual realm (the 99 percent level). But there is one percent left for us to fulfill. That’s why on Yom Kippur and Kol Nidre, we have the opportunity to cancel vows and remove negativity we created by not keeping our promises. When we create a vessel by making a promise, the vessel is empty until we fulfill the promise. When we manifest the vow, it’s like a light bulb is lit, and all becomes Light. It is no longer dark— that simple.

Once Mercury (the planet of mindset and communication) enters Leo, you will feel inspired to follow your heart instead of your head and be more careful with words. This week's energy removes confusion of all kinds. This goes deeper than just the confusion over a decision. There may be external forces working against you. Make sure you take the high road and don’t get dragged down to that level. With this week’s Sun in Cancer and a trine with Neptune in Pisces, empathy can be stronger than usual, which may open you up to being more understanding and compassionate with others.

There is nothing more powerful than consciousness. We can get in our own way, but consciousness is what will keep us on the right path.
