From July 12th to the 16th, we will be in the New Moon phase, which usually benefits beginnings. However due to the characteristics of the month, kabbalistically speaking, commencements (such as getting married, starting a business, or acquiring properties, as well as making celebrations) are not recommended. The reason for this is that the first days of this month, along with the last weeks of the previous one in Cancer, are considered a negative period. During this time, we lack a cosmic veil of protection, and the energy is very powerful.
Av is the month ruled by the sun, which sends us all its light and causes vibrations to intensify. Try to keep a low profile and remember that Leo represents ego and pride. We will definitely feel challenged during these days. Be careful not to react in aggressive, authoritarian, and imposing ways, since with this energy, anything can go awry. Rav Berg tells us that even though this is considered a negative month, if we are able to channel its powerful energy, and are constructive and productive, then we will become channels for the enormous revelation that manifests in the universe during this time.
As the days go by, we will approach the First Quarter—a phase that strengthens our will and favors decision-making and the ability to produce solutions. It is also a creation phase. Leo is one of the most creative and intuitive signs of the zodiac and along with this facet of the moon, we will see an increase in our creative capacity and ability to generate ideas.
To determine the energy of a week, we cannot lose sight of the moon, which is the main author of the changes between one day and the next. So, without further ado, let's see how it will manifest in this period.
On Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th, the moon will be in Leo. These days can be characterized by the search for recognition and admiration; they are romantic days full of passion and a lot of activity because Leo is a sign of fire. These days show your generosity and expand your creativity. Beware of selfishness, self-centeredness, and authoritarianism. On Wednesday the 14th and Thursday the 15th, the moon will be in Virgo, days that will lead us to be more critical and analytical. We can fall into perfectionism and shyness at this time. Virgo energy is extraordinary for cleaning, ordering, organizing, and for any activity that requires attention to detail. Be careful not to be judgmental of yourself and others.
On Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th, the moon will be in Libra and they will be days in which we will want to connect to others and seek harmony. They are also excellent days to nurture relationships of any kind and negotiate or reach agreements. Any activity related to beauty is very beneficial these days; just be careful not to become complacent.
Finally, on Sunday the 18th, we will have the moon in Scorpio which, contrary to Leo, creates a tendency for us to hide and can be felt with great intensity in the environment. We have to be careful with feelings of jealousy, revenge, and resentment. Try not to fall into the search for control and power. These are not days to be in crowded places. Activities that require discretion are most favored during these days. We can use this energy to meditate, connect with our psyches, and deepen our relationships with those close to us.
The dominant element this week is water, which brings with it a warm, loving, sensitive, and emotional vibration. We will seek to connect with others out of empathy, understanding, and mercy. But we must be careful with manipulation, blackmail, hypersensitivity, and victimization—attributes that are also associated with water energy.
On the 11th, Mercury, the planet of communication, will leave the sign of Gemini and enter Cancer. What we can expect from this astrological movement is more emotional, loving, and intuitive communication. Although the power to communicate with emotionality and sensitivity is positive, we have to take care not to get lost in the middle of an emotional cloud. Let’s stay objective in our ways. Mercury in Cancer will link with Jupiter in Pisces, creating a magical moment—an incredible opportunity for a unique spiritual connection, where contact with our soul and with the cosmos are magnified. We will be able to receive messages and have sublime experiences. We can experience an opening of the superior worlds and an understanding from the heart about wisdom and universal laws. Do not miss this opportunity: pray, meditate, and study, because, in addition, this aspect will bring a great level of understanding and inspiration that will provide us with ideas. We will retain information better, and in general, have a greater capacity for understanding.
On the flip side this week, Venus, the planet of love, and Mars, the planet of war, come together in the sign of Leo in an aspect known in astrology as a conjunction. Venus can make us romantic and demanding, and Mars can make us act confident, passionate, and imposing. This Venus-Mars relationship, if we know how to use it, can powerfully benefit and harmonize our relationships, as well as magnify our desire. There is a lot of magnetism and attraction, meaning we can be a little more aggressive, and confident in the search for a partner. Or, if we already have one, this energy can favor a deeper connection. Venus helps us to be more aware of what our partner or the other person needs. These two planets not only represent complementary concepts but also opposites, such as love and war, which can end in a feeling of frustration and imbalance. As always, how we live through this energy will depend on our spiritual work.
Within this week, we have the hilulah(death anniversary) of the great kabbalist Rav Isaac Luria. The holiday extends from the evening of July 13th until the 14th at sunset (5thof Av in the kabbalistic calendar). During this time, we have access to the assistance of this great tzadik,or righteous soul. The contribution to the world of Isaac Luria, also known as The Ari, is invaluable. The compilation of his work, the Kitvei Ha’Ari, is a legacy of wisdom necessary to reach Messiah consciousness—the highest level that humanity can achieve. The Ari lived only 38 years, but the knowledge he revealed was infinite. On this day, take the time to connect with this elevated soul. It is advisable to study his texts and light a candle in his name to invite in his energy.
This week the portion of Devarim, from the book of Deuteronomy, is read. This text occurs before Moshe’s death; after a life of leadership, he opens his heart and talks about his feelings with the people of Israel. Moshe felt that the right moment to do this had come, which brings us a great lesson: when we want to say something to someone, it is good to give them space and not get carried away by our emotions, which can make us reactive and prevent us from acting in a timely manner. Remember, in addition to the influence of the sun, the predominant element this week is water, coming from Cancer, one of the most sentimental signs of the Zodiac. Do not let your sensitivity overwhelm you; look for the right moment to express yourself, the one where you are in control of your emotions.
