As human beings, we don't always see things so clearly. Each one of us has preconceived notions and ideas, held in our conscious or subconscious mind, that form the lens through which we "view" this world. As the saying goes, “We don't see things as they are; we see things as we are.”

This week's portion is Re'eh which means "to see." Karen Berg explains that “Through it, we receive the energy to build and maintain our spiritual vision. This is also the week in which Rav Berg was born, so it holds extra power and significance for all of us in this global spiritual family.” With this week's cosmic energies, we can potentially build our spiritual vision—that is, our ability to see beyond challenges. We have an opportunity to be more truthful with ourselves and honor what we truly see.

The sun and Mercury form a great union in the beginning of the week, both residing in the sign of Leo, which creates a strong front that can support all of us. You may begin to feel strong, powerful, genuine, and value your own special and unique ability to bring Light into this world. But as we know, when there are conflicting cosmic energies, we must work harder and earn the possible positive cosmic influence.

Both Mercury and the sun experience challenging aspects this week that will naturally raise some questions. We can potentially experience doubts in our abilities and our own expression of Light. At the beginning of the week, the planet Saturn (in Aquarius) creates opposition and could direct us to focus on everything that we are NOT. We may feel inclined to believe that we are what others say we are. We can become overly concerned with what people think about us or doubt our own abilities and the tremendous power our unique souls must share with the world. This challenging aspect can test our genuine happiness and appreciation of ourselves.

Later this week, Uranus comes from a different angle and continues the streak of challenging our sight and our belief in the ability to make a difference in the world. Accept with an open heart and open spirit all the ways we are different from others. With all these challenges, there is a more hopeful aspect for most of the week between Venus in Virgo and Uranus in Taurus. This energy arrives in time to remind us that our true value in what we are here to share and give to others is being tested.

This week’s greatest gift (and powerful spiritual secret) will be to place ourselves in a position of service and intuit what others around us need. There is a great ability to gain and maintain our spiritual vision if we find more opportunities to activate our sharing nature.
