Lesson Highlights

  • Destroying the Opponent on the D.N.A. level
  • The depth of the war against the source of chaos
  • The battle between Jacob and Esau: the battle between the evil inclination and balanced consciousness
  • The ultimate goal of the Opponent is to support us, but was created to challenge our connection to the Light and is a servant of the Light
  • Selfish behavior fuels the Impure System and causes us depression and confusion
  • Death is the outcome from giving our Light to the Impure System
  • Three steps to overcome the Opponent:
    • Healthy Fear
    • Run away from praise
    • Surround ourselves with positive angels through our positive actions
  • Jacob asking the angel's name: a name (shem) is the essence or soul (neSHEMa) of a thing
  • The essence of the Opponent: confusion and concealment
  • Rejecting spiritual wisdom because the change feels too painful
  • Removing the concept of reward and punishment from our consciousness
  • Perceiving the good in all situations
  • Identifying an experience we perceive as bad and avoid

Lesson Description

The portion of Vayishlach contains the story of Jacob's confrontation with Esau and Jacob receiving the new name Yisrael. The battle between Jacob and Esau is a code for the constant spiritual battle we all face and the choice we must make between Light and fulfillment or Darkness and chaos. Join Eitan as he provides us with the tools to overcome the influence of the opponent in our lives.
