Welcome to the New Moon of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a time that many look forward to all year. We may do so because of the physical things that often appear during this time. The parties, family gatherings, and festivities are certainly wonderful things, but Kabbalah teaches us that there is even more energy concealed behind the physical world than we realize. The month of Sagittarius is one of the most positive, if not the most positive, times of the year. It is the month known for its good fortune and miracles, containing the cosmic event of miracles known as Chanukah. However, at a deeper level, the energy that created this month is the true reason to celebrate and the source behind its magic and good fortune.
"In Sagittarius, we are given the mercy when we may not deserve it, the blessing when we may not have earned it, and the miracle when we may not expect it."
“This is the sign of a covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it will be a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.”
These are the words the Creator declared after the great flood destroyed the world during the time of Noah. The bow the Creator is referencing is the rainbow. Sagittarius, when translated to Hebrew, is called Keshet, which means rainbow. The unique blessings of this month stem from the mercy and love of the Creator. For the Creator so loved His Creations that even though the flood of Noah was a necessary cleansing the world needed, the Creator promised that no matter what our future actions, we will be pardoned, forgiven, and loved. Like a beloved child that can seemingly never do wrong in the eyes of a parent, this month we are sent the sign to remind us of our Creator’s love. In Sagittarius, we are given the mercy when we may not deserve it, the blessing when we may not have earned it, and the miracle when we may not expect it.
"It is when we cease our judgments towards others and are open to joining hands with people who are perhaps different than us that we are able to activate the Light, and together bring blessings and benefit to all of humankind, not just in the month of Sagittarius, but every day of the year."
The booming and expansive energy this month is channeled to us via the means of the celestial body Jupiter. The Creator uses the planets and constellation as His cosmic keyboard to enter the program of the month. Jupiter is the month’s ruling planet and it is the vehicle through which the Creator transmits His love and mercy into our lives. Jupiter is a planet of expansion, good fortune, and luck. Those born under the sign of Sagittarius seem to always find that perfect parking space, that great adventure, that great love, and even that great party! Even though the rest of us may have to work harder throughout the year to create such magic, we all, regardless of our personal planetary influence and karma, are bestowed with the blessings of Jupiter and Sagittarius this month. We all merit to be engulfed in the Creator’s mercy, love, and good fortune. This is precisely why it is often referred to as the most wonderful time of year, and this cosmic door of blessings and miracles is now opening for us to run through.
It is also interesting to note that as the third month of the Kabbalistic Calendar, Sagittarius is built with the power of Restriction ingrained in it. The Creator promised us that even though negative Karma may be due to swing our way, He will stop it, pardoning us with mercy. This love from the Creator is built into the fabric of these next thirty days, and is precisely how the Light of this month is turned on. It is this tremendous Light that creates the good fortune, blessings, and even the miracles that have occurred in the month of Sagittarius throughout history. One of the most well-known of all miracles is when the few battled against the many and were victorious – the event we have come to know as Chanukah. But such miracles are not just a thing of the past or only to be read about in history. Miracles occur every day when we are open to choosing love over apathy, compassion over hatred, and make the choice to help someone else in need even when our needs are pressing upon us. Emulating the Creator’s love and willingness to show all of humankind mercy is the secret to drawing down the energy of miracles that will last us the rest of the year. Miracles abound in the presence of love. It is when we cease our judgments towards others and are open to joining hands with people who are perhaps different than us that we are able to activate the Light, and together bring blessings and benefit to all of humankind, not just in the month of Sagittarius, but every day of the year.
We are made in His image. We have the power at any given moment to act like the Creator, to apply mercy and love to those around us. This is the great power of this month and the great power we each possess. Now is the time to choose love as the default from which we operate, and in doing so, we will run towards a world of blessings, magic, miracles, wonders, and Light. The rainbow sparkles in the sky this month, a sign reminding us the world is full of love, and that love is the greatest miracle of all.
“And it shall come to pass when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy……”
I wish for everyone around the entire world a blessed month.
