Quickness of Spirit

The month of Libra begins on the sixth of September at sunset. It coincides with the kabbalistic New Year, Rosh Hashanah, as we enter the year of 5782. The first 22 days of this month will define our entire year; therefore, they are days of fertile land, so to speak, and we need to plant the seeds for greater blessings through effort.

Before taking a look at the astrological aspects, let's review the important days of this month:

Note: The Kabbalah Centre transmits each of these events online for anyone who wants to participate.

Yom Kippur falls on the tenth day of Libra, that is ten days after Rosh Hashanah. This year it will occur on the 15th of September at sunset. These first ten days of Libra are known as the ten most powerful days of the year for cleansing ourselves from any negative deeds we might have done in this lifetime or even in previous lifetimes.

After this deep cleansing, we celebrate the seven days of Sukkot, which begin on the 20th of September at sunset. Sukkot connects us to our potential and divine inspiration—the capacity to feel direction intuitively. It is also an opportunity to connect to deeper joy and happiness for the entire year and invite the energy of peace for ourselves and the world. The last day of Sukkot is known as Hoshana Raba (the 26th of September at sunset), which seals our destiny for the year. These days are very important for planting seeds. Set an intention to share more, stay positive, and avoid conflicts. May we pick ourselves up quickly when we fall. Finally, on the 27th of September at sunset, we have Simchat Torah, when we will receive the energy to manifest everything we planted.

Astrologically speaking, this year, the entrance of the New Moon of Libra will occur with many important placements (the sun, the moon, Mars, the North Node, and a black moon) under the rule of the fastest of all planets, Mercury. Mercury rules movement and speed. An ancient sage, Yehuda ben Teima said, “Be as fearless as a leopard, as light as an eagle, as fast as a deer, and as powerful as a lion to do the will of your Father in Heaven.” Mercury is, indeed, as fast as a deer and as light as an eagle!

Ancient kabbalists call this energy "quickness of spirit." One of the blessings we will receive this month, and for the entire year, is the ability to be stronger than the heaviness of procrastination, sadness, or fear. Act fast, not out of impulse, but out of desire to do more and manifest more! Structure your days so you are able to move quickly from one activity to the next, plant positive seeds, and swiftly move on to the next one.

We also have many signs in the air element (Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus, and the North Node are all under the rule of air). Air signs encourage us to let go—the wind is always moving forward, and it never stops. This helps us overcome the past, let go, and move forward. This is the time to move forward and stop wandering around things of the past. The 72 Names of God number 58 (yud-yud-lamed) "let go" can be of great help.

The challenge pertaining to Mercury and air is lack of focus. Some Neptunian energy in this chart can make things a little foggy; therefore, we need to stay organized and plan so we can make sure to unite quickly to order and follow through deeply with our actions.

May we all have a 5782 full of joy and Light.
