Welcome to the month that opens 2023 with a cheerful and enthusiastic mood. This is the perfect time to plan the year ahead and complete your goals. This is the last portion of the book of Beresheet. It is the malchut, the reservoir that receives all of the blessings that can come to us from the upper levels. Each of the portion readings of the book of Bereshit are manifesting now, and we can receive all of the energy they have to offer.
There are 85 verses in this week’s portion. The number 85 is pey hey, which means mouth and is the level of malchut, according to Rav Berg. We are only here for the purpose of creating some relief from chaos. This is the wisdom we are meant to internalize.
The portion of Vayechi begins with Jacob. It says, “And Jacob lived in Egypt.” This location was necessary. Why? No one can achieve unity with the Creator if they are on top of the mountain praying all day. So, Jacob and Moshe could only achieve the consciousness of prophecy in Egypt, where there is negativity. There they could accomplish their higher purpose and transform. From my teacher I learned, if you can’t arouse anyone in opposition to you, it means you have not achieved anything in this world.
We create tomorrow. We decide what tomorrow will be instead of waiting for what tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow is here now. Above time, space, and motion. We will manifest unity once we free our lives of chaos. This is the teaching of this portion. Vayechi unifies the whole. Astrologically speaking, this month will mark the beginning of a long-term journey of deep change.
What’s helpful to know is that, after the last couple of years of huge shifts in reality, 2023 gives us an opportunity to slowly compost and turn the seeds we’ve planted into useful nourishment. It’s the start of reclaiming power. And so this moment is important for becoming more aware of where the balance needs to be restored in our lives.
Saturn transits often infer a certain level of restriction and may prompt you to question boundaries. Saturn urges people to act with integrity and responsibility and pushes us to look at situations seriously and realistically. Mars starts to move forward on January 12th after being retrograde in Gemini since October 30th, 2022. The New Year starts off with Mars wrapping things up in Gemini’s house. From January 12th until March 25th, Mars will start to revisit the same issues it attempted to mobilize and address. Hopefully, the first three months of the year bring resolution to situations you’ve had to deal with for almost half a year. We can expedite the tikkune process by taking advantage of each moment where we can receive more Light. Such a powerful portion! All we have to do is open up the doorway within ourselves. Take responsibility for your actions and all that comes your way. Whether it is from a past life or this time around, ask yourself, What part did I play in this situation? This opportunity only comes once a year.
