When you think of the most creative people in the world, the ones that likely come to mind are famous artists, musicians, or writers. But creativity is not something exclusive to artistic people - it is an important part of all our lives, whether it manifests through being a creative parent, a creative spouse, a creative employee, or even a creative vacation planner!
Creativity is a direct connection to the Light of the Creator that can influence all aspects of our lives. Living a creative life means living an inspired life where we approach daily tasks and projects with desire, connection, and joy.
Here are 4 tips to find daily inspiration and tap into your creativity:
We live in a fast-paced world that has influenced our expectations for how long things should take. Think about the last time you ordered something online. It likely was delivered within 48 hours, and if not, it probably surprised or frustrated you with how long it took. We’ve learned to expect things to happen immediately. We want to fix our problems or complete our tasks as quickly as possible. The problem with this is that it doesn’t leave a lot of room to pause and think about our intentions and create space for creative thinking.
Remind yourself to slow down and make time for creative problem-solving. While focusing is important, it’s also ok to be working on multiple projects at a time. Moving between projects can help keep your mind fresh and sharp. Give a little time to each and slowly make progress. Don’t rush the process.
Each day brings unique opportunities and challenges that require us to adapt and find new creative solutions. The obstacles you faced yesterday can be completely different from the ones you face today or tomorrow. Our job is to draw creativity and inspiration into everything we do so we can continue to evolve with the world. This means breaking out of the routine, finding the things that pique our interest, and learning to think in new ways.
Try to find something that excites you each day. When something interests you, stop and explore it. Find a daily connection or meditation that fills you with renewed energy. If you pass a bookstore that calls to you, stop and go in. Try a new hobby. Go for a walk or ride a bike. People often think they don’t have time to try new things, but the truth is, it’s an important part of our long-term fulfillment. When you look for new things and try them, it changes your perception of everything.
Don’t allow the routine things to become stagnant. Fill your well of inspiration regularly so you can tap into a limitless source of creativity. Ask yourself, “What am I doing on a daily basis to fill my well of inspiration?”
You’ve likely heard stories of writers who experience writer’s block – an inability to move past the blank page. We all experience a form of writer’s block at times, feeling stuck in our lives without inspiration. That feeling stems from thinking we are solely responsible for creating and accomplishing our goals, putting tremendous pressure on ourselves that allows doubts and fears to creep in. We think, “What if I can’t solve this problem? What if I’ve run out of good ideas? What if I’m not as good as I used to be?”
The beautiful reality is that we are surrounded by the Light of the Creator, the energy that created our world, at all times. Creative people often talk about being connected to something beyond them. The greatest works of art are created by those who connected to that realm beyond. We are in partnership with the Creator and aren’t meant to do our work all alone. If you are relying only on yourself, you are cutting yourself off from where creativity and inspiration come from.
Remind yourself you are surrounded by the creative energy right now. Start your day knowing that the creative energy that created the world is surrounding you and available for you to tap into.
As children, we are naturally creative. We play make-believe or dress-up, creating stories and worlds in our heads. But as we get older, something changes with our ability to access that creativity. The reason for this change is the ego. We start to become aware of how others perceive us and often seek their approval or want to be seen in a certain light. We become very self-focused. This thinking creates a barrier between ourselves and the creative energy of the Universe, which is a force free from ego.
If you want to live an inspired life, seek to diminish your ego in all its forms. Understand there is a barrier you have created that you must be fighting against in order to allow the flow of creative energy into your life. This means focusing less on what others think of you and striving to be more selfless and sharing. The more you break down your ego, the more available the limitless creative force will be to you.
We are all meant to live creative lives where we are inspired each day – learning, growing, and trying new things. Allow yourself the time and space to think things through from different angles and to explore the things that excite you. Know that the powerful creative force of the Universe is there to assist you the more you break down the barriers created by your ego. Break free from the mundane and fill your well of inspiration every day.
