The energy of this week's portion is about the transgression of the golden calf. For all of us, the creation of the golden calf meant the end of that short-lived period of 40 Days of Immortality. As we learn in this portion, Moses said he would return with the physical instrument of immortality and that he would return within 40 days. The Zohar says the Israelites had miscalculated by six hours. And within these six hours, the people gathered to create the golden calf. Now, it doesn’t say the entire nation took part in this; not all people were involved. A group of people gathered with Aaron and asked him to make a god, feeling somewhat impatient that Moses, this man who led them out of Egypt, hadn’t come back in time.
“This week’s energy is all about certainty.”
As the story goes, Aaron suggests that they all contribute money toward the creation of this golden calf. To his dismay, the people built the golden calf the very next day. The story doesn’t make a lot of sense. Why would they make a golden calf? In essence, they wanted to tap into a higher consciousness. According to Rav Berg, consciousness is not something you can feel and touch. Consciousness is what is superior; it’s really what life is all about—mind over matter. This is very noble and very beautiful, but how many of us give up when we are trapped in a particular circumstance? We often let doubt settle in.
This week’s energy is all about certainty. With the Virgo-Pisces service axis involved, this Full Moon in Virgo presses us to find a balance between the physical one percent reality (Virgo) and total certainty in the Light of the Creator (Pisces). Virgo rules the tools and techniques we use to deal with physical life, while Pisces rules the tools we employ to manage our spiritual certainty.
Some sort of crisis (which can be a crisis of consciousness) or sudden awareness of a lack in our lives can provide us with an opportunity to explore our emotional needs and to connect the physical reality to the spiritual reality. It’s all about doubt versus certainty. There is positive consciousness, and there is negative consciousness. We never really make mistakes unless they are mistakes in consciousness.
It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our system. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. This is an eyes-wide-open time for us and the world. We are likely to receive strong messages from our intuition. This Full Moon harmonizes with Jupiter, and we can find it easy to gather inspiration and encouragement.
“This is an eyes-wide-open time for us and the world.”
This week’s portion gives us the opportunity to go back in time to the opening and connect to the consciousness of immortality. Although we were all there in the spiritual sense, we are coming back refreshed with new ideas and the belief that, yes, we can become independent from doubt. We can remove chaos from our lives and connect to certainty.
