When Tragedy Strikes
When tragedy strikes, it’s almost as if the world gives us permission to go into victim consciousness. From a kabbalistic point of view, this can block whatever Light was meant to be revealed from the darkness.
I knew a family whose young son had overdosed from drugs. I was inspired by the way they tried to use this devastating experience to help bring awareness to young people about drugs. They were so focused on how they could take the lesson and help others.
When we are going through the pain of loss, we usually shut down, find a way to escape, or become so numb that the world ceases to exist for us.
The spiritual lesson is to feel the pain and grief, but not allow it to turn us into victims.
I know it can feel nearly impossible to do in our darkest hours, but it will surprise you how the littlest effort can bring great Light into such darkness.
