There Is Order
Has it ever happened that you had an incredibly proactive day, or maybe even week, where you really pushed yourself to do the spiritual work and share with as many people as possible, only to be met with chaos and negativity the following day?
If it is true that our actions are like a boomerang and when we do good, good comes back to us… what gives?
The Kabbalists teach that our life in essence is not lived in the real sequence. It’s all out of order, and therefore we don’t often see the real connections between our actions and the results.
If we meet our soul mate today or get our dream job, chances are it has nothing to do with what we did yesterday or in the past week. It is most likely the result of a seed we planted long ago; it is the fruit born of a radically spiritual action we choose to undertake in years or lifetimes past. (My mom has a new book about this concept that just came out called, To Be Continued: Reincarnation & the Purpose of Our Lives.) On the other hand, if we are met with negativity, it could be due to a major moment of disconnect that happened so far back we can hardly recall.
There would be no need for real free will if everything were a result of what we did five minutes ago or yesterday. If when we stole, our hand was chopped off, certainly we’d never choose to steal. If when we helped the old lady cross the street we got a million dollars, we’d all be knocking each other down in a race to get to the nearest elderly! The time and space between our actions, though it makes it difficult to see the connection between cause and effect, is what ultimately gives us the option to exercise a sharing nature over a selfish one.
Because we won’t see the real cause of the circumstances in our lives, things may seem random to us from our limited point of view. But there is no such thing as a random occurrence.
To remain on a spiritual path, it is important to remember there is order in the big picture
This understanding should inspire us to take every opportunity we can to do as much good as we can – without attachment to seeing immediate results.
We never know when that one small action of sharing will grow into the exact blessing we will need five, ten or twenty years down the road.
72 Name of the Week

Aleph * Aleph * Hey
26. Order From Chaos
As I call upon the Light to push out the chaos, I concentrate on seeing the order.
I picture each day of the week, counting slowly to seven, while focusing on each day.
I breathe out as the seven dimensions become aligned, and Light fills my sphere.
