Generating Fulfillment
There are some people who look at someone who is sick and say, “Wow that person is so sick.” Then there are people who look at someone who is sick and say, “Yes, that person is sick, so let’s figure out how we can make him or her better.” We can look at almost every situation in our lives through one of these two lenses. We can get stuck in seeing the problem, or we can put in the effort to find the solution.
The only way we can overpower our own fear and negativity is not by sitting home and being afraid, but instead by the understanding that if we can bring ourselves to a higher level, a higher calling or consciousness, we can overcome the difficulties that challenge us. Whether we realize it or not, every single one of us has the ability to become more than we are by the amount of time that we spend in sharing, caring, and spending time on things that are not only for “me.” Because the only way we can bring lasting energy to ourselves is by first sharing it with others, and in so doing, bringing it back to ourselves. Like water in a pool, the amount we push away from ourselves is the amount we can receive back.
There is no such thing as a life that is free of chaos. The point is how do we react when it comes? Do we fall to it? Do we say, “Yes take me!”? The answer is no. Spirituality is about making the decision to fight the battle—but not to fight it because of who we are in terms of physicality, position, or social status. Instead we fight the battle because we have the certainty that we were put here for a purpose and have divine Light within ourselves that can and will help and protect us regardless of the situations we find ourselves in.
When we act in alignment with the Light that we have inside, there is immense power and energy that we can draw for ourselves. We cannot sit at home and do nothing with our lives and expect to have energy and protection. We need to somehow find a way to share whatever it is that we have—whether its wisdom, talents, or even physical resources. When we do, we create that energy and protection for ourselves, thereby building even greater our capacity to share more with the world.
The only thing in this universe that does not diminish is energy. In its raw form, it can neither be created nor destroyed. What we need to understand is that whatever we put out there in terms of energy is what we can receive back. We don’t “do things for others.” We share with others because it’s the only way we can generate real energy and spiritual fulfillment for ourselves.
